Oakridge Neighborhood
Where Children Achieve, Families Thrive, and Prosperity is Created
Secure, affordable housing coupled with wraparound services creates opportunities for success. A nonprofit housing and human services agency located on 17 acres in Des Moines’ urban core, Oakridge has served the communities’ most vulnerable children and families since 1969. Oakridge is truly a neighborhood, a community of people gaining stability while preparing for the next step in life’s journey. Welcome! We invite you to learn more about our mission.
Living at Oakridge
Our neighborhood is Iowa’s largest project-based Section 8 housing complex with 300 units. Our campus also includes Silver Oaks, which offers 39 senior living apartment homes.
Learning at Oakridge
Oakridge Neighborhood provides more than safe, affordable housing. It provides a wide variety of programs and wraparound services to engage and support residents and others in the community on their personal paths to self-sufficiency.
