These are some suggestions for how you can volunteer with Oakridge Neighborhood, but we’re always open to more ideas!
Choose a category to get started:
Ways my company or organization can support
- Partner with us to provide summer jobs or mentorships for our Oak Futures youth employment program participants (we pay the youth salaries, you provide the guidance).
- Donate your organization’s professional expertise to help us strategize and grow.
- Sponsor or volunteer as a corporate team at National Night Out or Fall Fest.
- Help us acquire major wish list items, like a passenger van or pool table.
- Make a corporate contribution to fund a specific neighborhood project.
- Be a sponsor of one of our annual fundraising events.
- Provide a special meal during our youth Summer Blast Camp.
Things I can do with a group (Coworkers, faith community, or friends)
- Partner with us to provide summer jobs or mentorships for our Oak Futures youth employment program participants (we pay the youth salaries, you provide the guidance).

- Attend or host a table at one of our fundraising galas.
- Assist youth at our Oak Studio Teen Tech Center at Mainframe Studios (no need to be techy!)
- Lend a hand at health clinics and community giveaway events.
- Use your maintenance or trade skills to help with campus projects.
- Assist adult English Language Learners in our ELL classes.
- Read with preschoolers once a week as a United Way Book Buddy.
- Refresh our office environment with a fresh coat of paint.
- Read with K-2 students after school a few times a month.
- Help 3rd–5th graders sharpen their skills at our weekly chess club.
- Engage with us on social media and share our content.
- Connect neighbors to our services as a community ambassador.
- Reach out to share a unique idea or skill not listed here. For example, do you knit or crochet? Come teach our youth!
Ways to contribute my specialized skills or hobbies
- Donate your professional expertise to help us grow.
- Apply your trade skills to assist our maintenance team.
- Guide teens through tech projects at our Oak Studio Teen Tech Center.
- Assist adult learners learn English in our ElL classes.
- Mentor students in our weekly chess club.
- Use your painting skills to refresh our offices.
- Let us know if you have a unique talent you’d like to share.
Ways to help children and students
- Read to Oak Academy preschoolers weekly as a Book Buddy.
- Mentor a youth or provide a summer job in our Oak Futures Youth employment program.
- Mentor teens in tech and creative projects at Oak Studio Teen Tech Center at Mainframe Studios.
- Read with K-2 students after school a few times a month.
- Play chess with 3rd–5th graders during their weekly chess club.
- Donate treats to our afterschool program or a classroom, like sugar cookies for decorating on a holiday.
- Support adult students learning English in ESL classes.
Quick ways to help from home
- Engage with our social media posts to boost our reach.
- Connect people in your network to our community services.
- Arrange a donation of treats for our festivals or youth program.
- Help us find donors for wish list items like a pool table.
- Make a monetary donation online to support our work.
- Organize a drive with your friends of diapers, toiletries or other essential needs.
Opportunities to get outside
- Help with outdoor activities at National Night Out or Fall Fest.
- Plant flowers to beautify the campus in the spring.
- Clean up the grounds at Oakridge, Silver Oaks, or Oak Academy in the spring.
- Weed and prune our gardens from spring through fall.
- Tackle outdoor maintenance projects with a group of friends or coworkers.
